Mike Mubaya
Project leader and management
My dream is that the inhabitants of the Mubaya village live a self-determined and independent life in harmony with nature and with one another.
The eco-village of Mubaya is taking its future into its own hands in the fight against famine, emigration and climate change.
Michael Mubaya, the coordinator of the Mubaya ecovillage project, and other members of the family group, Cathrine and Thomas Mubaya, have been trained in permaculture. Thanks to the now sustainable management, the soil is cultivated carefully, small livestock is kept for fertilizer and agriculture is diversified. Under the guidance of the three trainers Michael, Cathrine and Thomas, the village community is planting gardens and training in craftsmanship and food processing. Sustainable self-sufficiency and energy independence was the primary goal that Mubayabis wanted to achieve in 2020. Delayed by the pandemic, the relevant projects are continuing.
Moved by the willpower of this village community to help themselves in order to cope with the effects of climate change and the increasingly difficult economic situation in their home country with dignity, the Mubaya Ecovillage Zimbabwe Association not only supports the food independence of the inhabitants of this scattered settlement, but also helps to ensure that they do not have to emigrate. The association does this in particular financially with charity events, but also in terms of personnel with regular exchanges about the projects and with visits on site.
My dream is that the inhabitants of the Mubaya village live a self-determined and independent life in harmony with nature and with one another.
